Luka grew up in Woods Hole, Massachusetts where currents regularly exceed 5 knots. As a kid he would try to time his fishing with the local tide gauge, but often showed up only to find the water ripping in the wrong direction. After completing his PhD in Oceanography through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology & Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program, he built Actual Currents, the tool he wished he'd had as a kid.

A Woods Hole native, Lauren grew up on the water and carries a deep appreciation for the coast that informs her work. She brings over a decade of experience in marketing and creative design, with work spanning fitness, fashion, and the fishing industry. She specializes in crafting intuitive interfaces and compelling digital experiences that attract and retain users across web and mobile platforms. At Actual Currents, she shapes everything from the visual identity to the user experience, making sure complex ocean data feels simple and accessible from the first tap.
